Tourism Malaysia kicked off its ambitious Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign in New Delhi on February 19, 2025, aiming to cement India as a top source market ahead of the nation’s major tourism milestone. The launch event, attended by tourism officials and industry partners, showcased Malaysia’s vibrant culture, natural beauty, and modern attractions to captivate Indian travelers.

The campaign aligns with Malaysia’s goal to welcome 35.6 million international visitors by 2026, with India playing a pivotal role. In 2024, Malaysia saw over 672,000 arrivals from India, making it one of the country’s leading markets. Officials highlighted tailored promotions, including affordable travel packages, visa-on-arrival facilities, and direct flight connections from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, to boost this number further.

A key focus of the initiative is promoting Malaysia’s diverse offerings—spanning pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and bustling urban centers like Kuala Lumpur. Cultural ties, such as shared culinary traditions and Malaysia’s Tamil-speaking communities, were emphasized to resonate with Indian audiences. The campaign also leverages digital platforms and Bollywood collaborations to amplify its reach.

Tourism Malaysia’s director-general expressed confidence in the strategy, citing India’s growing outbound travel trend and appetite for unique experiences. While challenges like regional competition persist, the campaign’s early buzz suggests Malaysia is poised to become a favored destination for Indian tourists by 2026.
