Super Typhoon Ragasa has brought severe disruption to travel across Hong Kong and parts of southern China, with winds reaching around 220 kilometers per hour. Authorities in Hong Kong confirmed that hundreds of flights were canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday, stranding thousands of passengers at Chek Lap Kok Airport.

The powerful storm prompted the evacuation of more than 400,000 residents in coastal areas of China’s Guangdong province. Ferry services were suspended, highways closed, and rail schedules heavily reduced as officials prioritized safety amid the extreme weather.

Travel agencies are advising tourists to monitor airline updates closely and to expect delays not only in Hong Kong but also in nearby destinations affected by Ragasa’s wide storm band. Hotels near transport hubs reported being at capacity as stranded travelers sought last-minute accommodation.

While the storm is expected to weaken as it moves inland, forecasters warn of continued heavy rainfall, possible flooding, and landslides in the coming days. Local authorities have urged visitors and residents alike to remain indoors and follow emergency guidance.
